Watch: Live video of unreleased song ‘Hot Metal Coverage’

We here at The Quelle Source specialize in all sorts of things – dank basements, imbibing and being loud, just to name a few.

But more recently, we’ve gotten really good at accumulating a bunch of new songs that we haven’t released yet.

“That’s a good position to be in!” someone says from afar. Yes, true, but stop interrupting.

As we demo these and keep playing with them live and at practice, we’re unsure about how to get them to people’s ears so they know what they’re hearing before we can get a suitable studio version out there.

Here’s a stopgap solution, though: live video and audio of one of our new tracks called “Hot Metal Coverage.”

The song comes from our set June 16 at Johnny Brenda’s, filmed very well by our friend Josh Pannepacker (also known as Shorty Boy-Boy) for Bands in the Backyard. Thanks again to our great friend Chris Cardillo of The Bailey Hounds filling in on bass here.

The track is just one of a large subset of very short songs we’ve got going at the moment. Enjoy. (Lyrics are presented below.)

Hot Metal Coverage
Did I make a mistake?
The record now is spinning in the most peculiar fashion as
the offers come to a close
and I bid a fond goodbye to everyone

It’s awful cozy way up here
(though I crave that look)
but your Hot Metal Coverage is tight

Raving mad and extreme
Checked into the sun, a shadowed ghost of what’s supposed to be
just so perfect and right
So I curse my eyes and store the sad idea

It’s awful cozy way up here
(though I crave that look)
but your Hot Metal Coverage is tight

Paint the walls white
No names
‘Cause I was low
on decorations fit for creeping around
Highlight your Science Trips
(the real ones and the fake)
and author a Monument Guide
and file it underneath
